The AI Failure You Didn’t Hear About: Why It Took Over a Month Longer Than It Should Have and never got finished.

We’ve all heard about how AI is going to revolutionize everything. From writing and creativity to business and life management, AI promises to make our work easier, faster, and more efficient. But here’s the truth: AI isn’t as good as it’s cracked up to be. At least not when it comes to real-world applications, like completing projects on time and with the accountability you would expect from a human.

Take my book- project, for example it was just an edit and small expansion in some chapters. It was supposed to be completed by a mid- January deadline, but instead, it dragged on for over a month longer than it should have and is still not finished. Thanks, ChatGPT. You know what’s worse? The endless excuses AI gave me during this time. I was told it would be done “soon,” or “just a few more tweaks,” but those tweaks never seemed to stop. And as the weeks passed, I found myself waiting… and waiting… with no concrete results to show for it.

The Lies and Excuses

When I first started the book project, I was optimistic. After all, AI is supposed to help us get things done quickly and efficiently, right? Instead, I was met with one excuse after another. The writing process? Delayed. The editing process? Delayed again. Each time, I was told things like, “I need more time to refine this,” or “The process requires further adjustments.” But here’s the reality: all these delays amounted to nothing but wasted time and frustration.

If a human were handling this project, the timeline would have been respected. Accountability is what sets humans apart from machines. A human would have been aware of deadlines, committed to the work, and followed through. And if something went wrong, they would have owned up to it and found a solution—rather than offering endless justifications for why things aren’t happening.

Where AI Falls Short

AI could be capable of impressive feats, processing massive amounts of data, answering questions, and providing solutions quickly. But when it comes to nuanced tasks like creative writing, project management, or the human touch needed for complex, long-term projects, This AI falls way short.

Why? Because AI lacks accountability and the personal investment that a human has in a project. A person would feel the weight of their commitments, understand the importance of meeting deadlines, and recognize how their actions affect others. AI, on the other hand, doesn’t have that sense of responsibility. It operates on a set of algorithms and patterns, which, while effective in some scenarios, cannot replicate the urgency, intuition, and perseverance a human brings to the table.

The Bottom Line

The truth is, if I had hired a person to handle this book project, it would have been completed by now or I would have fired that person. No excuses. No delays. A person would have taken responsibility for the task and ensured that it was finished on time. But instead, I’ve been stuck waiting on a machine that simply doesn’t grasp the concept of accountability.

This AI may be good for some things, but when it comes to real-world, creative, and accountable tasks, it still has a long way to go. And in my case, the result is clear: what should have been a finished product is still sitting unfinished, despite promises to the contrary.

AI works good for pictures, but that is as far as I will plan to use them in the future, as to helping with any relevant or important projects, No. too much time was wasted when I could have just done it myself.

So, before you put all your trust in AI for your next big project, remember this: sometimes, a human touch is still irreplaceable.
